Spotlight On: Antigua and Barbuda Culinary Month

The much-anticipated Antigua and Barbuda Culinary Month

returns in May, an absolute paradise for foodies with a wanderlust heart. The month celebrates all things Caribbean cuisine with an emphasis on the vibrancy, innovation and irresistible flavour.

Food, Art and Beverage Festival (23rd May) FAB Fest

is set against the lush backdrop of Cedar Valley Golf Club, this festival blends gourmet tastings, cocktail creativity, music, art and family-friendly fun. Attendees can sample local dishes, watch live chef and mixologist demonstrations, explore food stalls and enjoy performances as well as artistic showcases.

Restaurant Week (3rd – 17th May) is a signature feature of the month. Over 50 restaurants across the twin islands will serve curated prix-fixe menus at three different price points; $25, $50 or $75. The special menus will showcase a wide range of culinary experiences from fine dining to comforting local classics.

Caribbean Food Forum (21st

May) sees culinary professionals, hospitality leaders and industry experts gather together for a symposium that explores trends, sustainability, cultural heritage in cuisine and the future of culinary tourism in the region.

Throughout the month, guest chefs, including Caribbean-heritage talents from the

US, UK and Canada, will partner with local chefs for exclusive dinners, beachside cookouts and themed culinary experiences. These collaborations are designed to blend Caribbean culinary traditions with global creativity.

  • On 22nd May at Rokuni, Sugar Ridge, a curated dinner will be innovatively put together for guests by United Nations-based chefs, Andi Oliver, Kareem Roberts and Kerth Gumbs.
  • At The Hut, Little Jumby, a Puerto Rican-inspired BBQ will be hosted by Chef Angel Barreto on 24th The event will also include a DJ and live entertainment.
  • Catherine’s Café on Pigeon Point Beach will deliver a collaborative chef’s dinner between Paul Carmichael, Tristen Epps and Claude Lewis on 27th
  • A special fundraising dinner will take place on 29th May, celebrating Caribbean Women Chefs. The event will feature Brigette Joseph, Maureen Bowers, Nina Compton and Suzanne Barr. Location TBC.

The

“Eat Like a Local”

initiative, taking place throughout the month, is a guided exploration of neighbourhood cookshops, informal eateries and hidden gems where authentic Antiguan and Barbudan dishes are served with heart. Delicious local delicacies that we recommend include pepperpot stew, fungee, goat water, saltfish and ducana!

The month will close with the Finale Beach Party and Cookout at Wild Tamarind Restaurant. Whilst enjoying beautiful views, guests can enjoy the creations of

Chef Devan Rajkumar and Chef Amalin during a spectacular gastronomic afternoon into evening.
